What is the North Shore Community Health Network?

We are an informal, volunteer network of health and social service providers from the following communities: Beverly, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester, Lynn, Lynfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Peabody, Rockport, Salem, Saugus, Swapscott, Topsfield, and Wenham.

 

What is our mission?

 

The mission of the North Shore Community Health Network is to enable health improvement through community-based, public, and private collaborations. Working together we promote awareness, access, and action that support local solutions to public health issues.

 

What do we offer?

• Training stipends for public health professional development

• Advocate for public health resources on the North Shore

• Quarterly Network Meetings featuring public health topics of regional interest.

Who is involved?

The Network has over 45 member organizations ranging from schools, public health departments, local coalitions, health care systems, senior services, youth-serving organizations, food pantries, community health centers, and a wide varitey of human and social service providers. Member organizations within our service area are eligible to apply for our annual grants.

 

General Network meetings are open to the public and individuals may attend.

 

How do we operate?

The Nework is governed by a group of volunteer steering committee members who are responsible for ensuring resources necessary to carry out or mission.  The group is guided by a set of operating principles that are reviewed annually.

Who are our funders?

FY 09 funding is provided in partnership with North Shore Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Lahey Clinic as part of state-mandated community benefit initiatives. Funidng will also be received in FY 2010 from Northeast Health Systems.
